Located in the seasonal Alaskan cruise ship port of Skagway, the Skagway Brewing Company is an expansive three story building featuring an on-site microbrewery, retail store, restaurant, pub, and beer garden totaling seating around 375. Plus we take pride in our sustainability efforts - we have a year-round indoor aeroponic "farm" where we grow all of our own leafy greens & culinary herbs. And the harvest yield of this produce is boosted by the carbon dioxide released from the brewing process which we capture and send via pipes over to the garden. Neat stuff!

Job Summary (Busser/Food Runner: Part to Full Time, Seasonal)

Busser/Food Runner plays a key role in efficiency of serving guests, running food from the kitchen to tables as well as cleaning tables as guests are finished, displaying impeccable customer service and composure
This is a seasonal position running late April through early October, based on the busyness of the cruise ship season

Responsibilities

Maintain a welcoming presence along with a friendly and courteous attitude….smile!
Provide information to guests upon request
In-depth knowledge of all food items and beverage menus
In-depth knowledge of retail merchandise sold in our gift shop
- Direct customers to merchandise and special promotions in gift shop
Bus/wipe tables when needed
Server assistance (run credit cards, food & drink) when necessary
Maintain our high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout restaurant
Efficient time management
Effectively communicate in a concise and respectful manner

Qualifications

19+ years old
Possess strong communication and customer service skills
Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing demands
Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day & lift large boxes weighing 35+ lbs

That’s the motto for the hard-working crew that makes Skagway Brewing Company what it is. Serving hand-crafted ales and great pub food, the Skagway Brewing Company is a fast-paced, high-volume establishment located in the Alaskan cruise ship port of Skagway.

As mentioned above, we take pride in our sustainability efforts from our indoor aeroponic farm, capturing and reutilizing the carbon dioxide from brewing elsewhere, to processing our spent fryer oil to create our own biodiesel that is then used to heat the building as well as fuel the brewing process. This is temporarily on pause, but we plan to resume in the near future.

As an Alaskan Cruise Ship Port, our business is heavily influenced by seasonal tourism. May-October our tiny boardwalk town is overflowing with tourists. Our off-season crew is comprised of year-round locals, but we rely immensely on our “seasonal individuals” -- those drawn to the allure of Skagway, its history, and an Alaskan adventure in The Last Frontier.

The backbone to our success is not just delicious beer and food – it’s also our people that makes the experience memorable by offering fast, efficient and friendly service with a smile.
